Our Personal Development, Health and Physical Education curriculum incorporates teaching and learning experiences related to the health priorities for young people of building relationships, drug education, fitness and physical activity, child protection and nutrition.
Our teaching programs in this Key Learning Area encourage an understanding and valuing of self and others through both the explicit, and informal, teaching of personal and social skills. They promote physical activity and a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle, as well as encourage informed decision making to enable students to act responsibly and respectfully. The teaching in this area is particularly concerned with developing resilient individuals who are resourceful in managing their own lives.
To assist with the Physical Education Strand of this Key Learning Area we have a specialist PE teacher who works with each class once a week and who assists our staff in the planning, implementation and assessment of the various components of the PDHPE syllabus.
